weekending

The last two weekends I've spent mostly at home and completely enjoyed doing so. I'm reconnecting to what I love to do yet also realizing that I can't become a hermit come the weekends. I'm not a hermit,  I just like the balance of being out in the world during the week and the quiet of home (or the cabin) on the weekends.  I'm really so ready for fall. This summer has not been my favorite mainly because it's been exceptionally hot. I'm afraid this may become the new norm. Global warming is real and we really need to be more proactive in protecting our precious earth.
My parent's community had a patio sale yesterday. At first I balked about spending "MY" Saturday minding a sale. Well, not only did I score quite a few things, I had a good time. (Rug pictured, clay planter, two Pyrex dishes, and few other things). The other two items above are purchases from my friend Abby's Etsy store. It seems I have a bit of collection started and I happen to LOVE all these items which is a requirement for me with a new budget. No more mindless purchases and even more so, higher quality items. This might be a future blog post as I'm pretty proud of my budgeting/money managing strategies.

This morning I met a friend for coffee. I think there will be more of that in my future. I'd rather meet for coffee than a costly dinner. I took a few pictures this morning that I post sometime this week. I'm liking reaching for my camera vs. my phone.

I have a busy week ahead and so I'm thankful for the calm of today. Our skies are smokey from the fires and the earth around here is just so dry. It's been a good day to stay inside. I actually even just made some pumpkin bread from this book. It's cool enough to cut now so time to do so and maybe do some knitting.

Does this thing still work?

Wow.  There was so much dust on this blog, I needed two rags to clean it off. Hello blog, how are you?  I know it’s been a while and yes, ...
