I took these pictures on Thursday. The sun was somewhat shining in between the clouds of a few occasions. We call those sun breaks. I remember that I was trying to focus - get things done because I had to work yesterday. I couldn't help myself. I just had to stop and take these pictures. These little bits of green rising up above the surface - call me silly - but they make me really happy.

Then yesterday happened.  Knocked the wind right out of my sails. When I got home from everything I took to my bed, left the shades shut and proceeded to watch CNN for the next three hours straight.  I eventually fell asleep. It was all I could do to get out of that bed to make dinner for my family.

This morning I prayed. I'm still sad (very sad). I have so many questions. My three kids are all here this morning. A few minutes ago the three of them were in our bed watching TV together. Josh just talked Tori into making him waffles. Christmas music is playing.

These things make me happy too.

  1. Those little green shoots poking out of the soil are like little signs of hope for the future. They make me happy too.

  2. I read this post a few days ago and meant to come back to comment but forgot.. I get the little bursts of green making you happy. Every time I peek into our garden or look up at my jade over the kitchen sink it just gives me a little burst of energy. Green is magic this time of year.

Hope you're feeling better. As much as this isn't our personal tragedy it feels incredibly personal, doesn't it? It seems to have caused a greater pause than what this sort of thing normally does and I'm really hopeful that it leads to some change. It's a scary world to be raising our babies in.

p.s. totally appreciated the compliment you left me.. left a comment to you on my blog but I'll say it again here- I was feeling a bit haggard about the face and that was just what I needed to hear so thank you.

Does this thing still work?

Wow.  There was so much dust on this blog, I needed two rags to clean it off. Hello blog, how are you?  I know it’s been a while and yes, ...
