My quilt is finished. It's kinda strange though because it's a little bittersweet. I really liked making this quilt watching it all come together. The combination of colors I just happen to adore. Maybe it is even more than that though. I discovered that my sewing spot is perfect especially when the sun is out. This room we call the craft room is well situated in our home. If I turn around from the chair I can see directly into the kitchen. And, you may notice that I sneak in there while sewing for handfuls of chocolate chips.

I'm still no quilter. This quilt is progress not perfection. I'm already eager to begin my next project. I really would like to learn how to sew clothing. I don't need another bag. Maybe another quilt. I did sleep heavenly last night with this one on top of me. Or maybe it was just that I was extra tired from our hike yesterday. It was a good one.

My hat is knitted and my quilt is finished. Before bed, I tidied up the craft room thinking that it will be a few weeks before I am able to start a new project. Funds are limited right now but I've got that party to plan and books to read (thank you library).  A seed catalog arrived yesterday too. Today my creative efforts are going to be spent in the kitchen baking things for the kids lunches this week but I promise not to over do. It is Sunday after all.

  1. Such pretty colors! A quilt is a big project, congrats on finishing! My daughter and I have had an unfinished quilt stashed in a closet for a couple of years now. I really need to get it out and finish it. Enjoy your Sunday!

  8. I'm stalking you today, home with the sick girl and trying to play catch up. Love the quilt. We had planned to do one this winter but haven't even started, maybe you gave me the push. I had to laugh when I saw those chocolate chips, I always keep a handful nearby when I am writing, my favorite snack.

I want to learn clothes too. I envision wearing all my own handmade skirts and dresses.

  9. Hi Denise,Just found your blog through your post on beautythatmoves and fell in love with your hiking photos and this beautiful quilt that I LOVE! I was wondering what beautiful place you live in, then I read some more, so I'm assuming you are close to Seattle somehere,right....I just moved to the Everett area and would love to see the place you posted in your pics...where is that at? It sucks that it's so warm where we are at but just minutes away they get all the pretty snow. :(

    1. We live south of Seattle.
The hikes are the title of my post - in the Snoqualmie area mostly.
When we moved here from Michigan (many years ago now) we moved to Mukilteo. I used to work in Everett too.

I hope you like it here - despite the hard gray days this time of year :)
      Take care

    2. We lived in Canton,Michigan for 9 years...what a coincidence. :) I'll have to check out that area you mentioned b/c your photos are so beautiful! From what I see in photos they do have some pretty places but Everett is just ugly and depressing.....we just moved here from Virginia but so far my daughters and I love Michigan the most.

    3. that is crazy! we had a farm in a small town named Oxford. Kinda near Pontiac. I don't recall where Canton is...

look for the beauty - it's there or just a short drive away!! (highway 2, Snohomish, Whidbey Island for starters...)

    5. We didn't live very far from Pontiac ( I remember hearing the name Oxford, but it must have been so tiny b/c no one ever talked about Oxford. :) ....I want to say it wasless than 30 minutes from what I remember from where we lived. Wow, living on a farm is a dream my daughters and I share.Canton is a few minutes from Detroit and borders Plymouth and Ypsilanti then Ann Arbor. :) My daughters are ages 14,16 & 18. My husband keeps saying we'll go out on the weekend to sight see but something always comes up, but we are all really excited to see some snow and mountains up close before it warms up.
