be: still
I wore my ankle boots for the first time this week. Suddenly bare feet get cold. And, today I turned the heat on when I got home from work. The rain came down all day and I may have even skipped the dog walk. It seems another week if over and it was one that I just over all felt. I mean really, it's almost November. It kinda freaks me out.
This week I'm reading a book on Yoga Philsophy. It's a little deep but I get it. I'm not sure I got it when I went through yoga training probably because I wasn't ready. At that point, I just wanted to know how to teach the poses and call it good.
A lot of getting it - it's being still. Really, not just in my body but my thoughts too. So, I've been doing that this week. Sitting (even timing myself). Afterwards, I take note of all the random (and I mean random) thoughts that go through my head within the 5-10 minutes time. It's completely crazy. Today I realized that I bombard my mind in several different ways all before 5am. (It's called checking social media feeds before I go to work). Too much information. Don't get me wrong though - I'm not against social media, perhaps though it is not the best way to start my day.
I wonder next week If I can or perhaps I just will - sit for 10 mintues quietly before heading out the door.
*this is the view from one window of the cabin. The bird feeder sits empty for a reason. The previous owners used to feed the raccoons. We need to wait awhile before feeding the birds. Despite the empty feeder, I happen to love this view. Not a bad place to sit at all.

you know, I like this. i'm totally bad at it, of course ;) and I get crazy if I check social media in the morning!! I try to wait till later in the day...
ReplyDeleteI sure know what you mean about all that randomness going through. And it's been far too long since I've really intentionally set time to sit in stillness / meditate. This is such a great time for setting new intents and cleaning up extra junk (physically, internally both). Also, hi! I have been so out of it in blog world. Looking forward to catching up and reading here for a bit.
