The sweetest sound is in my kitchen right now - chirping baby chicks. We did get 12 of them this time. Our coop is much bigger and also...just in case. These chicks are nothing short of healthy though. I can't get over how active they are. I'm so glad to have them again. Brooklyn is doing fabulous. She showed a little bit of jealousy the first day acting up like any other sibling would do. I have had her sniff the chicks until she begins to lick them. My hope is that they will coexist some day. The pictures above were all taken on their first day home.
These photos from today. I swear that Americauna was loving her photo shoot. For the record, here is the breakdown of the kinds of chickens we have:
2 Americauna
2 Rhode Island Reds
2 Barred Rocks
4 White leghorns
2 Buff Orpingtons
They are actually quiet at the moment. Must be nap time. I love how they cuddle up next to each other or at other times completely just crash right where they are. There was nothing better than two 16 year old boys watching baby chicks the other night. Yep, I love them if it isn't obvious.
