Oh Olive, she did it again. I finished up this book on new years morning so I am calling it my first book of 2020. This was such a good read. I stopped so many times reading it, read passages out loud and really thought about what my life might look like down the road. Olive is a funny lady but a kind one too. She has so much grace for herself and everyone else she connects with in her life.
I think about getting old but what is old anymore these days? What this book made me realize is how important it is to keep being around people (socialize) as we age. I believe loneliness is a very real thing. I don't want to grow old and lonely at the same time. I am grateful for this glimpse into Olive's life. She had a way of being with people - all people. I like that about her.
Onto book two, The Dutch House. I didn't set a specific reading goal for 2020 but I still might.
I just finished Dutch House, which I really liked. I have got to read these Olive books. I'm on a mission to be the best older woman I can be, so it sounds like she will be good inspiration. On that note, I talked to a lady in her late-70's yesterday who told me she refuses to let herself get scared and sit alone at home, so she makes herself attend all kinds of events, take classes and travel. She does way more than I do now! It was inspiring!
