make:: yarn along

When I purchased this yarn in Portland I told the girls it would be the only yarn I would be buying for quite a while. I've been true to my word. Some could probably knit up this sweater in a week. I just don't knit like that for some reason. Knitting requires sitting still and that is my struggle. Despite, I'm loving knitting this sweater and really have high hope for my skills when I get to the actual antler part.

The other thing I do which requires sitting still is reading. I do read while exercising at work. Recently I've been so engrossed in my book that I don't even realize that someone is standing near by trying to get my attention. I just finished The Lowland.  I'm not always comfortable giving book recommendations as I just don't know however, this one I would. I've started a few books and didn't finish them. Life's too short. I've got What Alice Forgot waiting for me at the library and I think 3 or 4 other books on my night stand.  Oops. Too many books at the same time.

When I am ready to settle in - I either knit or read. I hardly ever (like ever) watch TV. I think I heard recently that reading is like dreaming during the day. I like that analogy.

  1. Good to see you at Yarn Along..! Cancelled the cable and DONT MISS the TV one bit. I love to fade into my stitches while knitting. So relaxing..

  2. Smile - I'm not a tv watcher or much of a knitter due to having to sit still too. I listen to audio books while I garden and do housework. I love Yarn Along as my daughter knits and also because of all the awesome books I find from people, I've just added your two books to my goodreads want to read list. Thanks!

  3. You seem a lot like my daughter - she just can't sit still for long periods of time. She is a great knitter but doesn't do much mostly for that reason!

  4. Lovely yarn!! I can do some crochet but have never learned how to knit. I enjoyed your last post with the ocean photos of Oregon. It's breathtaking! I am an ocean person and feel almost an spiritual connection with the ocean. Wish I lived closer to the ocean but here I am in the center of the US far from the ocean :( Thank you for sharing these lovely photos. Have a great weekend ahead!

Does this thing still work?

  Wow.  There was so much dust on this blog, I needed two rags to clean it off. Hello blog, how are you?  I know it’s been a while and yes, ...
