I knit a sweater for me. I know that there are some bloggers that can knit a sweater practically with their eyes closed. I'm in awe of them. I know I shouldn't point out my mistakes. Let's instead say there are things that I would like to get better at with my knitting.
The button band!
Just when you think you are done knitting, there's the button band. Picking up stiches and making the button holes are the two things that I do want to improve upon. There is some unequal space of my buttons and you can see perhaps my button band guage is a little off. Up top, the bands are not lining up as I would prefer. I could always just button the top button and let the rest stay open.
Regardless, I do plan to wear this sweater out of the house! I have it on right now and it is warm. I promise not to sleep in it though as it is hand wash only.
Because I'm joining Ginny, I'm supposed to say what I am reading right now - of course, two books - the first one being one that came recommended from her which is Alignment Matters. This book is right up my alley and totally useful for my work. The other book is this one.
I already have another knitting project started too - also from Ginny. It's the prayer shawl in this post. It is is a real nice change of pace from the sweater.
I'm loving knitting right now but am thinking about sewing too. It does get dark rather early here now!

OH.MY.GOSH. I looove that sweater!! I can't believe you knit that! I mean, I can, since you are amazing, but it is awesome! I hope you accidentally leave it at my house sometime ;)
ReplyDeleteNice work, that's a huge accomplishment! It looks amazing Denise! I wouldn't have noticed the mistakes at all. I have read about the trickiness of button bands though, and how to make them well and give them structure that lasts. It would be a dream come true to someday knit my own sweater.
